I have worked extensively with Reindeer Graphics, Inc. in the creation of software packages for quantitative image analysis and measurement. Fovea Pro, a professional quality package that provides quantitative image analysis on 8 and 16 bit per channel images, is a suite of plug-ins designed to be used with Adobe Photoshop (in 32-bit mode) or compatible programs. These host programs range from inexpensive (Paint Shop Pro and Graphic Converter) to professional (Image Pro Plus). Work is currently underway on a 64-bit package, QIA64, for use with newer versions of Photoshop
I have also created a suite of Photoshop-compatible plug-ins to support the workshops that I teach. The plug-ins can be downloaded for either Windows or Macintosh and are especially well suited for use with Photoshop CS4 or CS5 Extended (which have basic measurement capabilities) but will run with any prior version of Photoshop or compatible programs. The download file includes brief descriptions and instructions. The Cookbook has much fuller descriptions of their use (see the Books page).
The book Introduction to Image Processing and Analysis is a textbook for students interested in learning to program the algorithms used for the processing and measurement of images.
